What is Bau?

Bau is a fun and efficient way to access and share great work environments. We build software and curate a space network that puts a high-quality user experience front and center. Our goal is for you to have access to places that give you the support to do your best work, wherever you are and whenever you need them.


What cities currently have Bau?

We are launching in San Francisco this summer, with more cities to come.

What are the membership fees?

Bau has no member fees or leases. With Bau, you pay as you go - it’s that easy. If you are looking for a more permanent space, many of our partners will offer monthly options. Try out their workspaces using Bau and pick your favorite. We are happy to introduce you.

Checking In

I just got to a Bau location. How do I get in?

Simply open the Bau app on your phone, tap the power button on the screen, and point your camera at the Bau code on the door or concierge desk. If the door is locked, the app will trigger it to open for you. You’ll get a welcome message, and you’re in.


Once I'm inside, how do I get one of those cool rooms?

Many of our partner sites will have libraries and lounges. Sit anywhere you like in these.

To access rooms or reservable seats and tables, just bring your scanner back up, and point your camera at the code attached to the resource. If it is available, your app will prompt you for duration and guests, and reserve it for you instantly. If the resource is not available, the app will guide you to an available alternative. Have fun!


Scanning a room gives me an error. Is something wrong?

On the rare occasion that the scanner returns an error, please inform our location-based staff for assistance, or email us at [email protected]. If you’re in a rush, please try another resource.


Is it possible to extend my reservation while using a room or seat?

Absolutely. For reservable seats and rooms, just tap the hour glass on your home screen and swipe to add time – easy as pie. Communal areas where you can sit anywhere, like libraries and lounges, do not require you to set end times.


What are reservation increments?

Your time and reservations at Bau partner locations are measured in 30-minute increments. Your first 15 minutes in the lobby are always free. Our goal is to ensure your stay is productive and relaxing, as well as keeping the reservation process as simple as possible.


What happens if I check out early? Will I get a refund?

You can check out and check back in anytime for the duration of the reservation


What is the Reservation Cancellation Policy?

You may cancel up to 2 hours before the start of your reservation. However, it is no longer possible to cancel within 2 hours of its start, and you will be charged for it. Don’t worry if you make a mistake - you can always cancel your reservation without charge within 15 minutes of making it.

To cancel your reservation, visit the Activities menu in the app (the heartbeat icon on the upper right corner) and tap on the upcoming reservation you wish to cancel. Here you can delete or modify the reservation to fit your schedule.


What if I forget to check out of Bau?

Simply pull up your app, tap the power button select "Leave", and the system will check you out.


How do we unlock doors?

We are integrated with Kisi to provide keyless entry. Select partner spaces will use this integration to provide access to locked buildings and rooms. Our app allows you to get through the door with a simply tap, does it get any better?

Do guests need to have the Bau app on their phone?

The short answer is no. We want to make it easy for you to use Bau spaces for meetings and hosting guests. The app is equipped with a guest feature. Enter their names in advance, or on arrival. If your location has a front desk, we ask you to meet your guests there to maintain security within the facility.


Do all my guests need to get checked in and out at the same time?

No, you can check guests in and out as needed. The guest button on the home page makes hosting easy.


How do I get into the Bau Messenger Community?

The Bau Community messenger connects you with Bau members and support teams. To get an invite, tap your account menu icon in the top left corner of the app home screen. Then, tap on the Community tab, followed by the "Invite Me" button. Please be mindful of the username guidelines. Using these will help you get the most out of the Bau Community.

What is the Community Messenger used for?

This tool connects you to the Bau member and help desk network. Chat with our support team @bau_support, our partner space concierge desks, and collaborate with other members, and share ideas, and inform the community of upcoming events.

Can I reach location staff on the community manager?

Yes, we use the direct message system to help you get in touch with community managers. To find the community manager of the space you are in, click on "direct messages" in the Bau Community messenger. Location support teams use the following handle: sitename_support

Can I reach Bau Technical support from the community?

Of course. Our direct private support channel is the @bau_support handle in the Bau Community messenger. We'd love to hear from you, and are here to help.

How do I report inappropriate behavior?

Please direct message us in the Bau Community at @bau_support, or by email us at [email protected].  If possible, please include photos of the incident, as well as name(s) of the offender(s).


How do I book an event space to hold a panel, networking mixer, happy hour, film screening, art salon, etc…?

We love events! If you’re interested in scheduling an event, please direct message us @bau_support in the Bau Community messenger, or email us at [email protected]. We will help pair you with one of our partners to find you the best location.


Who do I contact if I have an issue, or need help?

Onsite Support:  Our space partners have a representative on site who can assist you in person with space related issues. You can also message them via the Bau Community, and their contact information is listed on the in-room information card.
